Halloween Party

My Halloween party will be Friday the 24th 7:00. It will be a biker theme, I already got my tats picked out! I don't do formal invitations, everyone is welcome. (except kids) Bring a snack and you have to come dressed up! There will be some guitar hero going on and some other corney games. If we get bored we will go to the Dugout dressed in our biker gear and see if we get kicked out or beat up! :) Good times.

I love my Husband! I love my husband!

Well there have been so many posts on husbands lately that I thought I would write some things that have been going on in my head recently. I found this little jewel of a picture that I don't remember ever seeing and I made it black and white.
We watched a movie once and the man in it saw a cute girl and looked at the ground and said "I love my wife, I love my wife, I love my wife" and I think its so funny, we always joke about it, I told Scott I was going to get him a shirt that says "my wife says Im happily married".
There has been so much divorce lately (it seems) and it has really made Scott and I talk ALOT! It makes me nervous, I think, will I like you when the kids are gone??? I have such a strong relationship with the kids and we do everything together and I know all that goes on with their life! I can see how I can get busy with the kids and Scott can get busy with paying the bills and we could grow apart. It's so scary! I was upset one night saying "I don't like to do ANYTHING you like to do" I said we won't have any fun once the kids are gone. I said I don't want to ride a motorcycle across the country and you don't want to go visit friends in Utah, so what are we going to do. Scott of course says "what all married couples do and compromise, we'll ride the motorcycle to Utah to visit our friends". :)
Nicki is sick of my talking about this but lately I have really had a feeling that I need to work on putting Scott first, I put the kids first because they NEED me, but now that they are getting older I can see that they need to see that I put him first. I m pretty good at dropping everything when Scott gets home and trying to make coming home a happy place because a lot of days I would run the other way too! But I really feel that us being a team and then the kids is the way it needs to be.
The other day I took Sister Naef to church and we were talking about random things and she was sweet enough to tell me she would love to take the girls if Scott and I ever needed some time and that we should make sure to take the time to work on us. She said her husband and her went away for a night once a month! ONCE A MONTH ....... OVERNIGHT! That seemed extreme to me but I definitely feel that she knows more than I ever will and am going to try harder during this crazy big kid, little kid, running, crazy time and make sure that Scott and I have what it takes to last an eternity!

Busy as a Man Can Be, He's Our Bishop!

Well the Spurgeon kids knew their Articles of Faith! We told the primary kids that for every AOF they memorized they got a water balloon to throw at the Bishop! They had so much fun and the poor Bishop was such a good sport! I really have to say that our Bishop is AMAZING! He is so sweet, humble, giving, kind, perfect perfect perfect! I can't say enough about how much I love this Man!

Tid Bits

YES Austin went to his first stake dance and YES we chaperoned and OF COURSE we took pictures! He won't let me put them on here. Don't worry, it was only with Scott's cell phone, I didn't bring in the real camera with the flash and everything, Im not THAT bad! :)

Avery came home so excited from preschool saying I did it! I said the America thing! After a few minutes of her trying to explain I said "oh the pledge of allegiance". She was so excited! So then Jocelyn told her that at McGee they do MORE after that (the peace pledge) So Jocelyn tried to teach it to her (remember its the second week of school)

The real peace pledge:
I will be responsible for my actions
I will respect others and myself
I will treat others the way I wish to be treated
I will think of others before I think of myself.

Jocelyn's version:
I will be responsible with my actions
I won't do anything mean
don't push
we love God
you can may sit down and be quiet.

Dinner time conversations going on all at the same time!

Avery pointing a gun: Freeze sucka
Mom: Avery don't say that
Marinda: I can totally do my locker combo while Im talking!
Jocelyn: How do I get into bed in the morning when I go to sleep in yours?
Mom: I take you to your bed after you fall asleep.
Jocelyn: How, I don't feel a thing.
Avery: When is tomorrow?
Austin: tomorrow.
Avery: Mom you said I could have that toy at the store "maybe tomorrow"
Mom: well maybe you can........ tomorrow.
Avery: So .........can we go get it?
Mom: well today is today so maybe tomorrow.
Austin: Mom your mean. I know what your doing.
Eric: Mom your watch battery is dead, can I take it apart?
Mom: no it just needs a new battery
Eric: I want to see the inside
Mom: no
Eric: will you let me when it breaks? (holding it high above the tile floor)
Mom: give me my watch!
Austin: Marinda lied to the bus driver.
Mom: why?
Austin: The bus driver asked the kids on this side of the park to raise their hand and they need to ride a different bus so I went to raise my hand and Rin told me to put it down.
Marinda: I don't want to ride a different bus.
Mom: you don't lie.
Austin: I told you Marinda its lying if you don't raise your hand.
Marinda: All my friends ride this bus.
Austin: What would Jesus do?
Marinda: You just want to because your friends ride that bus, well you ride that bus and I will ride the other one.
Mom: I want you to ride the same bus.
Marinda: crying and drama
piano dinner football homework bed. How many more days until SUMMER VACATION?

Eric's Harley Ride

Scott and Eric have been gone all week on a Harley ride with Scott's brothers and some friends. They send me pictures every night from Scott's phone telling me where they are and how hard it is to be away from me and school and football, and work! Poor boys!

That little speck on the rock is Eric!

That rode in the background makes me cringe, I think he should hold out on the pics until they get back safe and sound and then I can look at them! :(

Happy Birthday Austin!

It's been FOURTEEN years! Holy Cow! Here is my tiny baby Austin, 7 lbs. 10 oz. He was such an easy, HAPPY baby! Sorry but here is the labor story. I was late having him, thought I would have him much earlier just being a dumb first time mother. I had NO contractions, nothing happening and was going crazy. I woke up one morning and was wet! I got up took a shower got all beautiful to go have my baby, finally! We had everything ready, I was feeling so good, we were so planned and perfect! I went in and they said "your water isn't broken" so after being humiliated at what they suggested happened I went home. I cried and cried until my stomach hurt so bad I thought I had made myself sick. The Dr. called to check on me and heard how disappointed I was and told me to take two Advil and go to bed. So I did not knowing I was then in labor and having mild contractions. When I woke up they were full blown, knock me down contractions five minutes apart. I tried to get ready but they were coming so fast and I was quite surprised how bad they hurt (being new to this and all) so I went to the hospital all ugly from my crying fit the day before. We got there and sure enough it was time and all went well. When we got home we woke up wet the next day and realized there was a leak in the water bed. It was so funny to think I thought my water had broke, at least it wasn't the other option! :)

This is Austin's favorite picture and story! He used to sit out here for hours watching the cow's and bulls. (there is a fence) One day he climbed through the fence and I saw him standing right next to that bull with the HUGE horns! I ran up to the fence with my heart racing and started to climb through it. The bull snorted and put its foot out and around Austin so he was in front of him protecting him from me! So I bent back out of the fence and said very gently (come here Austin) he walked right out from under the bull to me. It was so scary! So don't run over to a bull when its hanging out with your baby!

Well its 14 and that means stake dances for the stud! I keep asking him how he is going to dance and he has practiced asking girls using my Sister-in-law Korbi and has even shared some moves in the kitchen! Not happily though! :) He will be a teacher in the young mens program and is now counting down the days until he gets his license, slow down Austin!
