WOW...Bad Mom...Crappy Week...Do Over!

I made ALL five kids a dentist apt. in Tricities!  So I was in my room getting dressed so we could leave...........knock on my door........
Austin:  Mom
Mom:  Just a minute.......
Austin:  I fell in the shower
Mom:  And.....Im getting dressed.
Austin:  Im bleeding will you open the door?
Mom:  (opens door, Austin puts down the towel and oewy gooey nasty......)
Ewwwww AUSTIN!!!  Really...right now!!!!!!  Well I will just take you to the urgent care on our way in.
Mom:  What were you doing?  Were you messing around?  Dancing?  Swinging on the rod?
Austin:  No, I was just reaching for the conditioner and slipped.
Mom:  WHAT WERE YOU USING RIN'S CONDITIONER FOR?  BOYS DON'T NEED CONDITIONER!
Austin:  (sits down and I fix his hair a little and he goes to get dressed)
Im telling all the kids to hurry with their shoes and everything because we can't be late and its going to take a few minutes extra to fill out the papers at the drs.

On the drive I was thinking of all the options........I had made these apts. months ago, ALL kids, OUT of school, I couldn't cancel.  So I could drop him off at Kenya, run the kids into dentist, go pick him up all stitched and he can still get his dental cleaning.  Or I could take them to dentist, then go get his stitches and be back in time to do him too.  Or I could just wait on his stitches until after the dentist apt.  So I was making calls to see if there was an urgent care by the dentist in Kennewick......there was!  Yeah!  Tiff was even at the dentist with Ashton so she could be there for my kids while I took Austin!

So I got to the dentist signed the million papers and said do your stuff and left the kids at the dentist, drove Austin down the street to urgent care........Talking to the dr.
DR:  What happened?
Austin:  I slipped in the shower
Dr:  What did you hit your head on?
Austin:  Im not sure?
Dr. Tell me what happened step by step
Austin:  I was reaching for the conditioner, I slipped and hit my head I guess on something, and then I guess I got up and went to my Mom's room..........
ME:  Thinking (WHAT!!!!  YOU GOT KNOCKED OUT!)  (didn't even cross my mind)!!!!!  Bad mom
Dr:  Let me see it..... UM yeah thats quite a gash, we don't do that here.......you need to take him to the ER and get a cat scan and they will stitch him up there.
ME:  Really are you sure he needs a cat scan?  My kids are at the dentist........The ER takes all day?  ...........thinking............
ME:  (being the multi tasker that I am) what if you just stitch him, he gets his cleaning at the dentist, then I take him in for his cat scan.
DR. & NURSE: Speechless, giving me shocked looks!
Then the Dr. said well if you don't mind him not waking up tomorrow!  (Wow that was kinda harsh)
In my defense I had a very calm feeling, I knew he was fine, but I do need to work on my hysterical Mom routine for when Im in public because I am no good at it!
So I called Suzy and she saved me and said in her super sweet voice (oh I can just run right over to the dentist and get your kids and bring them to my house, you just go and take care of Austin and don't worry about a thing)  like it was no big deal that she had to tote around her baby and hadn't showered and had a million things going on and instead was going to have all my rowdy children at her house all day.
So I ran into the dentist, they only had one kid left, I told them the plan and we went to the ER.

The ER was normal...........long..........waiting...........I had to look at this for almost five hours before it finally got fixed (counting the driving and urgent care visit and ER waiting time)  When he would talk and make facial expressions you could see fat, meat, and stringy things moving around in it!
The Dr. came in with the cat scan results and said we did find something.....not common in a 15 year old, I actually rarely see them in males under the age of 25..........a brain!   Everything looked great, he had no internal bleeding and the skull was all intact!  Just a concussion.  The Dr. said we don't do stitches on the face we glue so there is less scar.  After the Dr. went to get the stuff, Austin said  WHAT?  No stitches?  I don't want glue that makes me look pansie, I don't mind a scar!  (nice Austin)  Oh and Austin wants to clarify that this is not a tear in the picture, its from his wet hair.  So No dental check up for Austin today but its okay......we can come back.

Oh and then Eric was playing with his friend right before we came home and was playing with a bb gun, the bb hit a rock and then came up and hit him TOO close to his eye, he had to pull it out of his skin......its gross.  I cleaned it and smushed it together with a steri strip. Im still too mad to talk about it.
The End.
Im glad I get to go to bed and have a do over tomorrow.

The Power of Commercials!

We are not big fans of cable or dish or any tv, the girls have never had it in their lifetime and are having a very hard time with the commercials!  Jocelyn decided this Christmas she wanted CraZCook'n because the tv told her how much fun it was.......she decided after she played with it........regular cooking is just as much fun.  For my b-day Jocelyn had seen something on tv and HAD to get it for me, but she didn't know what it was called so she walked through Walmart with Scott for hours.  She was so determined to find this!  Finally a different day she found it at the Pasco Walmart.....a brownie pan/cutter all in one!!  So instead of dirtying one brownie pan and knife you get to dirty this 3 in one very hard to clean icetray looking cutter thing!  She was SO excited and knew I was going to love it sooooo much because the tv said all Mom's would LOVE it!  :)

The other day the girls were watching a commercial intently saying .......please don't be sold separately, please don't be sold separately.  Avery cried because EVERY toy is sold separately and we will have to go to a bunch of different stores to get it.  Austin explained it to her that its all at the same store you just have to buy more to get it all.  Jocelyn learned about "sold separately" when she bought a hampster ball and got home and realized the big hampster on the front of the box ........... was sold separately.  :)

Avery was chewing on her hair.  I told her to stop, she said, "I can't, it itches and Im scratching it"  ???
Avery came home from school and said she met her teacher's Mom, she said she is so nice and looks exactly like Miss Foley.........but with a different sweatshirt on.
Eric:  on our drive to Tricities asked Scott and I .......So in the garden of Eden, what did the animals eat if everyone was nice, like did the Lions eat grass?
Redbox is FABULOUS!!!  Unless your Scott and pay $15 to rent the Micheal Jackson movie.

Oh I got a job.  Im a sub EA (educational assistant) (sub) so when an EA is sick, I take their place.  I've worked one day at the middle school.  It was fun.
I get called at 6ish if they need me so they called and I said yes and then Eric came in not able to breath (allergies/asthma), I had told them no twice already so I couldn't call them back, so I called my Mom and she saved the day and said he could go to her house.  Then I looked at the clock and had 20 minutes to get five kids on the bus and me ready for my first day of work.  Scott was saying he didn't have time to take Eric to my Mom's and I would be way late if I did.  We were all crazy rushing around the house and Avery came in crying.......about something, she hates mornings so take your pick on what she was mad about......and Scott looks at me over the crazyness and says "your career is ruining our family"  :)  We laughed.

Now for the most scary story EVER!
I was at the middle school so I brought Rin home with me after school.  Eric was at my Mom's sick.  Austin decided to stay after school and go the tennis meeting.  SO the girls got on the bus at their school which takes them to the high school to switch buses, when they didn't see any of the kids there Jocelyn thought it must be the day of the primary party at the church (Friday they are supposed to walk to the church after school WITH ERIC) So her and Avery get off the bus and go walking down the busiest street in Othello .... (picture little tiny first grader and kindergardener)  crossed the busy street and walked four blocks, across side streets to the church.  Luckly there were some people there and asked who their parents were and called the office and Ruben called me and I drove super fast into town to pick up my teeny tiny whiny itty bitty babies who had walked the streets of Othello!  It would be like letting Joc and Avery walk to Yokes from my old house........by themselves!  Talk about a major stomach ache!
It was quite the eventful day!

Happy B-day to Me!

Crazy week, how cute is this candle my Mom and Shirley gave me!
Suzy came over and we played with my NEW CAMERA!  Hurray!

This is the beautiful cake Gina made me, the butterflies are made out of melted chocolate!  Sunday night we went to my parents where  Mom, G, Shirl, Mike, and my Dad had a party for me!  I got a SEWING MACHINE!  Oh my how I have wanted one forever!!!!  My Mom got me a sewing kit a few years ago because I was planning to get me a machine but it never happened!  So it was too exciting!
Sat. I went to lunch with Nicki and Suzy in Tricities.  Always fun.
Today Suzy came over and brought me pie and we went to my parents house for lunch and then came back and watched a movie, haven't done that in forever!  I had a lot of phone calls, and two sister-in-law stop by's with presents!  So great, it almost makes turning 35 fun!  Facebook b-day wishes have been fun this year too (new thing for me).
Last Wednesday Marinda got to go to her first dance!!!  They let all mutual age kids go to the V-day dance.  Not happy about that!!!  Austin and Rin were practicing before they left.  Marinda was SO excited!

For achievement days we got to take the girls to Moses Lake to ice skate.  Here is their "silly" picture.

Cathy and her girls came too, it was fun to see them since me and Cathy's schedules are a little off.  Summer will be better I hope!

Up at the cabin most of the snow was melted but it was still nice and freezing up there!  The kids did the polar bear plunge off the dock, they squeeled and then ran straight up the stairs to the hot tub.
Ariana was the first in...........after they saw that she didn't freeze to death, the rest jumped in.

Scott drove past this today, he emailed it to me and said ........thanks honey!

Debie had this on her blog and I laughed forever!  When we moved here from Pasco the teachers were upset that my kids were behind in some areas.  They were taught differently, to pass the WASL.  I told the teacher I was sorry Eric hadn't memorized all his times tables but he can tell you, and show you, six different ways to get the number 32.  It was so funny!  So I loved this that Dallin wrote, he has to have the anwer and then tell how he got the answer.

6 +1+4=11  I know because I used my brain.

We had a fun Valentines Day, Us, Tiff & Ruben, Tony & Mary, Todd & Dena went out Sat. night at the cabin.  All the kids cleaned the whole time we were gone, what a fabulous surprise!
We got home late that night and had a fun visit with the Moon's for Sunday lunch!
The kids were naming things they love for v-day and one was that the refridgerator beeps when we leave a door open!  :)

My Birthday Month!

Let the celebrations begin, my birthday is an important time of the year!  They have a day off of school for it, some call it Presidents Day, I call it Debbie Day.  I know Im too old to be thinking of my birthday but I think birthdays should not only be for the kids, it should be for ME!  Yeah!  We celebrated Feb. b-days with the Ashton's this weekend at Stephen's house,  Beck 4, Carsten 16! and ME, 29 and 72 months.

Stephen and Korbi live on the lake, its so pretty, their view is awesome!  Bob had a check up in Spokane so he stopped by and all the kids got to see him!
Josh and Eric and their spoils of pinata candy!

Speaking of Eric, he had a science fair that we forgot about.  He had fun racing cars with different shapes down ramps and recording the distance, until midnight the night before to learn about aerodynamics!  Bad Eric!  He has been having a hard time jumping on the tramp and riding his scooter with his brace on.  He actually comes in and complains about these things to me!  Eric!
Rin listens to the scriptures on our itunes and follows along, she gets much more out of them, then reading every fourth word wrong.  Eric asked if he could do it that way.  I came in and said "you have to follow along and read with it or it doesn't count."  He said "Oh I do, ..............well I did lose my place twice but I found it again."  Im impressed when my kids tell the truth even on little things, I hope it will spill over into the big things one day!!!!
Another thing I love is watching Austin finish his series.  He was on the fifth book of the Lighting Thief series and he was on the last few pages, he sat on the couch and kept putting the book in his lap and making  noises, (aghhhhhhhhhh).  So I asked what his deal was and he said "its so intense I can't stop reading it, but I don't want to finish it because then its over and I will have to say goodbye to all the characters".

Avery got a new bathing suit and went to put it on to get into the hot tub.  This is what she did with the stickers.

Stuff

Scott came and taught the achievement day girls CPR.  He said you put your hand on the victoms chest and push like this, all the girls giggled and giggled, Scott got embarrassed, WOW this is a lot harder than teaching cpr to boyscouts!  :)

Eric broke his toe.  (in a few places)  He was running and stubbed it into a brick, the dr. said they wanted to cast it but didn't want to immobilize his ankle for 6 weeks so he would have to just take it easy and lay around for 4-6 weeks.........Eric.....so whenever Im not watching his every move he has to wear this!  :)

I even made him sleep in it the first couple nights.

Avery's bad habit, not only does she bite off her toenails but now she bites the skin around them off.....gross!

My nephew Jacksen, (when he was younger) who passed away 2 yrs. ago today.   Feb. 2 is not a good day, I have never had a day in the year that was a sad day and stuck out on the calendar like this one!  I instantly think of his mother........ and then I think of my kids...... and how lucky I am....... and how unfair life is.  I think of all the funny things he would say and fun times we have had.  This age is my favorite, its the way I remember him, its when I knew him best.  As I have been going through pictures and watching my slide show of him, Im trying to think of him and what he is doing now, and not how sad it is for us.  How happy he is now, Im sure he is up there thinking, stop all the crying Im doing a great work and can not come down.  I will try to put aside that days bad memories, the terrible phone call, and imagine Jacksen getting to see our Father in Heaven again and all the family waiting for him,  what a wonderful day that must have been for him.  Peace is a blessing....but you will never be forgotten.
