Sick Days

It's been 2 weeks of on and off sickies.  Eric's allergies are horrible!  They haven't been this bad in over 2 years!  Actually the only time he has used his inhalor in the past two years was when he spent the night here at Grandma's.  Something that grows here is NOT compatible with that boy!  Joc had the flu but it was very mild, then Avery got it...... not so mild.  This is her trying to make it out of bed to the living room to lay on the couch, she didn't make it far. 

I have hardly worked, actually Im going on three weeks now only having worked one half day!  Every time they called me I had a sick kid or an apt. for one of them.  I don't know how working Mom's do it, I thought when all my kids were in school maybe I could do something outside the home.  NOPE, its really hard.  Im glad Im just a sub and can say no when I have kids home sick.  What would I do if I had to go in?

Marinda came in and asked if her and the cousins could light the fire pit (nice, easy, gas, one) I said sure, she asked if I was coming out to watch them and I said, Im pretty sure Austin who is almost 16 can handle it.  A bit later the kids came walking in the house smelling like campfire.  They said we burnt a little bit of the fence, but just a tiny bit, you can hardly even see it. ????!!!!  They lit the Christmas tree on fire.....right next to the fence!  Marinda swears she told me that is what they were going to do and thats why she acted so surprised when I said they didn't need super vision, Im positive she said fire pit, not Christmas tree!!!  Anyways they said it was pretty exciting, it burst into flames and when they realized it was too close to the fence it was too hot to try to move it.  So far the damage to the house since we moved here, burnt fence, a few small dings in the walls, one scratched door, and a dent in one of the tiles..... Eric dropped a sledge hammer.  And yes, Eric usually carries around things like sledge hammers.

With the warmer weather the kid's scripture reading has definately slowed, they get home, play outside, and then we read a chapter as a family and then they usually only read one verse before falling asleep.

Our favorite neighbors are back from Arizona!  Grandma & Grandpa Yorgesen have come home from their winter in Lake Havasu.  Six years ago when we lived here, we lived right next to them and spent a lot of time at their house!  The kids LOVE playing, working, mostly playing at their house.  We are a now just a run across the field to their house and the kids couldn't be more thrilled.  Saturday we spent the day with them, the kids helped move boxes around and loved going through old pictures and things Irma has kept that they made long ago.  Grandpa told us many stories but my favorite this weekend was that his Grandfather's phone number was 4.

Last night we had our Relief Society birthday dinner.  It was a lot of fun.  I took pictures of all the couples and then Brittney took some silly pics of us.

WOW

Scary...... today Austin and I went to the DOL in Moses and got his permit.  The guy behind the counter promised he would get a new picture with both his eyebrows (hopefully) in 6 months when he gets his real license.  He drove us home.......he only turned into the wrong lane once.  Very impressed.

At church on Sunday, Eric pointed out that when he sits all the way back in the bench his feet can touch the ground!  Super exciting!  :)

Nicki and I went to Portland.  We left early Monday morning and got home Tues.  The kids were all alone with Scott for two whole days.  It was class picture day Monday and I was gone before they got up, so Scott took the girls across the yard to Tiff's and she fixed their hair.  It's a good thing because when I got home Tues. the girls hair was less than cute after he had done it!  :)  They had a lot of fun, they went to the 50's day program at the Jr. High that Marinda got to dance in that day. 

  

Austin had the amazing opportunity to meet a holocaust survivor, Noemi Ban.  In his honors English class they have been reading books and learning about it, she came and told her story to the class and signed his book.  She then spoke that night to the community and we all got to go, it was Wed. night so all the mutual groups went.  It was such a special experience.  Its hard to believe that there are not many left to tell the story first hand, soon it will only be in history books. 

She was so sweet and funny and shared her message of forgiveness and love of life. 

What's Missing in this Picture?

Sweet Austin was impatient with his bandage and glue and decided to just rip it off!  Nice wax job on your eyebrow!  I wonder how long thats going to take to come back! 

The Dr. said I would like him to keep this on for 10 days, 7 would be fine.  Once it starts peeling up it will be hard to leave it alone.  He said to just trim the parts as they lift and then take a comb and brush the glue out of his eyebrow.  Austin is a picker (of scabs) so I threatened him with his life and he didn't have any peeling for the whole seven days but then when he looked at the calendar and realized it had been long enough he took it off.......at school........and was very embarrassed that his eyebrow came with it. 

End of February!

New toy on the farm!  This teetertotter my Dad made for Me and Cathy growing up, its not like the little ones you can buy at the store, this baby goes high!  When Cathy moved out Suzy and I played on this all the the time (we are responsible for the lovely paint job).  When she wasn't over my Dad got a sand bag and filled it to my weight so I would go out and teetertotter with my bag!  :)  Im sure I named it but I don't remember. 

When you go down you get butterflies in your stomach and if the person bumps it to the ground you go flying in the air.  The kids had fun demonstrating this for me. 

They are very excited for tonight, for FHE we are going to give it a make over.  They are all arguing over how to paint it.  Im guessing it will be whatever color we have in the garage. 

The other weekend we went out with the Knights and Bassetts, it was fun to see Rochelle in person, I only get to check on her through her blog.  (that she doesn't update enough or put enough pictures on)  Just kidding Rochelle.  I LOVED her shirt, it says "Warrior"

Eric's eye was really swollen before school but I only got this picture that night.  The right eye has an eyelid showing, you can see a little swelling in the left.  It has healed nicely.  He will always wear goggles in the future, he promises. 

Teenage boys are boring.  Actually these boys were excited to get together but because of Austin's head he wasn't able to do all their favorite things, sword fighting, trampoline, wrestling.  So they played together on their DS.

Hmmmm don't know what to think of this.  I do love our high heels and side bangs!  About half of her papers her name is still backwards.  One day I will miss it I bet.
